Self-Introduction

Hello everyone! My name is Kaixia and I’m currently a sophomore at the University of California, Irvine. Welcome to my page for Writing 39B!

I love matcha green tea ice cream, milk chocolate, and I’m obsessed with puppies. I like to watch Netflix & Chill on the weekends. Some of my favorite TV shows are Sherlock, Grey’s Anatomy, and Teen Wolf. I also enjoy watching movies, especially animated film such as Zootopia. There is not a particular genre of music that I listen to because my playlist contains mixture of all kind. Although I don't read much, one of my favorite books is The Great Gatsby.

My background with English is that I have always struggled with both reading and writing since high school, mainly because I was never good at it. Last quarter, I read and wrote about fiction. It was interesting to see how people write, each author has his/her own way and I was asked to imitate the writer’s style in my writing assignments. I was required to edit each paper at least three times and we had many peer review sessions in class. My peers gave me great advices. They were very helpful! In this course, I hope to learn how writers make words suspenseful in their writing. The theme for the course worries me the most because I am not a fan of horror and I get scared easily. I probably won’t like some films that we’re going to watch. However, I do look forward to it and I think it’s going to be an interesting class.
