The RIP project is a very unique assignment for a writing class which gives us an opportunity to be creative in our own ways. I really enjoy the interaction in our class because it is hard to get to know your peers especially when you are in a lecture with four hundred people. Additionally, I believe that it is important to learn how to work with others because once we go out to the real world after we graduate, there is always going to be people around us.
To be honest, my group and I barely started the project Monday. So far, we have finalized the storyline and the equipment we have going to need to film. One of the group members is going to check out the resources at the library tomorrow and we will start filming some scenes tomorrow as well. I am in charge of the visuals of the short film so we still need to discuss what we are going to need in the later scenes of the movie and make sure we have them ready by the time we film those scenes. I really like our story because it is inspired from the former presentation we did on the horror genre about slashers. Me and my group hope to film as much as we could before Thanksgiving Break to space out the overall process. Moreover, we are planning to ask some of our friends to act in the movie as well as people in the background.
If I could start over again, I would probably plan much more in advance and have a general layout about the process. As we are approaching to the end of the quarter, everyone is getting busy and many of us have other commitments. Therefore, it is more difficult to find a time that works for every group member to meet up and get some stuff done. I wish we were given this project sooner so we know exactly how much time we have to complete it.
Personally, I love working with my team members. We really make a team together! Even though none of us is a technology expert with camera or editing, each one of us is willing to try or ask for friends about it. I think it should be a fun project because every one has a positive attitude towards the film making. However, one thing that my group could improve is that we should’ve wrote the script beforehand so we have a better idea of each scene.
My personal mark on this project is that I am able to be a better listener by listening respectfully to disparate opinions of other individuals and communicate effectively within a group setting.
