The RIP Project was the first group project I had to do in college. I was excited because my group and I decided to create a short movie. In my opinion, our class was more creative compare to the other class. Their theme is “fairy tale” and they did presentations and posters. To be honest, presentations are pretty basic and straightforward. It is usually used in academic content, which fits the course objectives of our class. But I didn't enjoy them as much. One group from the other class did posters and personally, I don't think it worked. They assumed that everyone knew the topic they presented and there were awkward pauses in between. They could have improved by changing the style of their presentations.

However, we were able to give a fun twist in our class’s RIP projects. Since our theme is “modern horror”, we made a short horror film as a group. Maybe I am being biased but during our class’s presentations, there were laugthers across the audience. Our class did extremely well on editing. For instance, sound effects, colors of the footage, and quality of the clips. Each group included horror music in their movie in order to cue the audience when and what they should be feeling at a specific moment.

Silent Killer, a short film created by my fellow classmates, was by far my favorite. The movie was filmed like a documentary, which turned out super well. Even though it was only three minutes, the message was very easy to catch. It appealed to the audience that the addiction to alcohol was the Silent Killer. The monster was presented as an unknown black figure. Therefore, the audience knew that the main character was alcoholic.

We put our blood, tears, and sweats into our RIP project. If I could do this project all over again, I would only change one thing about our horror movie. Since editing took longer than we expected, we weren’t able to add bloopers at the end of our film. The outcome of our project would be more entertaining if we included footages of “behind the scenes”.

For our own presentation, the audience reaction/feedback was exactly what we wanted to see in horror films. Some groups encountered some technical issues but they were able to overcome them. Another challenge was the volume, sometimes it was very difficult to hear what the characters were saying because of background noises. I believe it could be fixed by adding subtitles.

One group presented on Cinderella from the other class. Their presentation caught my eye because they used GIFs in the slides to create a fun twist to the sometimes plain presentation. Moreover, some of the students dressed professionally. They gave me good impressions right away because it showed that they respected the audience and took the presentation seriously. Overall, both classes did a great job and I enjoyed the process of creating the RIP project with my group members. It was a fun, and interacting experience.
